  • Do I need visa to enter Vietnam?

    Vietnam visa

    Before entry into Vietnam, you must have a Vietnam visa stamp or a Vietnam visa approval letter. S Vietnam Travel can help you to arrange this letter to get a visa upon arrival at Tan Son Nhat Airport (Ho Chi Minh City), at Danang airport or Noi Bai international airport (Hanoi). Please provide the following information for us to apply for your visa.

    1. Full name on passport
    2. Passport number
    3. Date of birth
    4. Nationality
    5. Date of arrival
    6. Flight number and time
    7. Fax number where we can fax you or your email address forward to you.

    We will process the visa within 3 working days. After approval, we will fax or email you a Vietnam visa Approval Letter as an attachment. You can receive your visa at the visa desk of the arrival airport for Vietnam visa on arrival or receive your visa at Embassy or Consulate in your country for Vietnam Visa Approval Code.

  • It's reliable to book online?

    Making an online reservation is easy and safe. Just complete the deposit payment form (SSL - 128bit). Your card information will not be stored at our system (merchant) with international security standard.

    Payment portal system of OnePAY is trusted by big banks in the world such as ANZ, HSBC and ICICI. OnePAY payment portal meets all standards of international financial system such as PCI DSS of PCI Security Standards Council, 3D-Secure of Visa, MasterCard and JCB. You can find more information about this system on its website: http://onepay.vn/. Most travel agents in Vietnam use this system to accept payment by credit card.

  • What happens when I make a reservation?

    Upon receiving your deposit payment, we will send the email to inform that we well received your booking. We will process your booking and get back to you in 1 to 2 working days after all written booking is confirmed.
  • Do you have discount policy for children?

    Yes, we have children policy as the following:

    • Infant under 2-years-old free of charge land tour and 25% of airfare.
    • Child under 12-years-old sharing room with adult without extra bed charge 50% of adult land tour and 75% of airfare. 
    • Child under 12-years-old sharing room with adult with bed charge 80% of adult land tour and 75% of airfare.
    • Upon 12-years-old - 100% charge of tour cost.
  • What if I have special needs for the tour?

    If you have special requirements - for example, if you have young children, or you have infants or the olds in your group, or if you are handicapped or have physical limitations, if you have special transportation needs, or if you are vegetarian or have other food allergies - please let us know. We can work with both you and the service provider ( restaurant, hotels, transportation ...) to ensure that we can meet your needs.
  • How about the Credit Cards Refunds?

    Please note that refunds will be made to the card you used to make your reservation but the refund does not include 3.5% banking service fee. The refunds process is dependent on your billing cycle with the credit card company. Once the refund instructions leave our office it can take anywhere from 7 to 15 days working days for the proceeds to arrive in your account.
  • Can I use my reward points from Accor, Marriott, Starwood, Hilton etc. on your site?

    No. Only reservations made directly with the participating hotels can use reward points. However, if you are a Golden Lotus Member of Vietnam Airlines, you can accumulate points with their selected partner hotels.
  • Do you have e-tickets in Vietnam?

    Almost airlines in Vietnam offer electronic ticket. We will issue an electronic ticket through email or fax to you.
  • What about travel insurance?

    We strongly recommend that all travelers should have travel insurance covered before the departure. Travel insurance is a cost effective way of protecting yourself and your equipment should any problems occur such as cancelled trips, delays, medical emergencies, baggage loss or damage. It also gives you peace of mind. Please also make sure your travel insurance covers all activities planned on your trip.
  • Do I need to have some vaccine shots before the trip?

    No vaccinations are officially required by the Vietnam authorities; however immunization against malaria, cholera, hepatitis, typhoid, tetanus, polio and Japanese encephalitis is advised. Please consult your doctors for further medical advice. Also plan to bring mosquito repellent. Wearing long-sleeved shirts and slacks from dusk onward and avoiding perfume is also recommended. In addition to an ample supply of any prescription drugs you are taking, bring medicines for: Headaches, diarrhea, constipation, insect bites, sore throats, eye drops, cuts, etc.
  • What is the time difference in Vietnam?

    Vietnam is fifteen hours ahead of Los Angeles, twelve hours ahead of New York and seven hours ahead of London, one hour behind Perth and three hours behind Sydney (give or take an hour during daylight saving time).
  • What is the climate like in Vietnam?

    Hanoi and northern Vietnam have a distinct winter and summer season. A dryer winter lasts from November to April with average temperatures of 18 - 20ºC. Summer lasts from May to October and is hot and humid with temperatures around 30 - 35ºC. In areas like Sapa, prepare accordingly for the winter months as it has been known to snow on occasion. Hue and Danang, in the center of the country, have very hot, dry weather from February to August with temperatures reaching over 35ºC. The region can experience quite heavy rainfall between September and January. Ho Chi Minh City and the south have a hot, dry season from December till April with average temperatures around 28ºC. The rainy season lasts from May through till November. It rarely rains for long periods, even in the rainy season, with most rain coming in short, heavy bursts.
  • Where can I find current exchange rates for Vietnamese money?

    Current dong exchange rates are available on the internet. Please try one of the links (www.xe.com, www.vietcombank.com.vn). Note: You can not buy or exchange dong outside Vietnam.
  • Can I get cash on my credit card in Vietnam?

    Cash advances on credit cards are available at the central Vietcombank in Hanoi, HCMC and other major cities, for which you will be charged around 4%. Hanoi and HCMC also boast 24hr ATMs where you can withdraw cash on MasterCard, Visa and other cards in the Cirrus/Plus networks. In Hanoi, go to the ANZ Bank beside Hoan Kiem Lake; in HCMC both ANZ Bank and HKSB have ATMs.
  • Is it better to use American dollars or Vietnamese dong for daily expenses in Vietnam?

    For everyday expenses, I recommend carrying a mix of US$ cash and dong. For larger items (hotel bills, train tickets, etc.) or when the exchange rate works in your favour, use dollars. For cyclos, local food stalls and small purchases, it's best to use dong. In either case, make sure you always have a stock of small notes so that you don't have to worry about change.
  • What does the Price include?

    The Prices showed on our system is in USD (United State Dollar), INCLUDED Tax and Service Charge but EXCLUDED Bank Fee. Please check carefully the inclusion and exclusion of services before booking. Included and excluded services will also be listed in our confirmation email. Important note: - Price is in United State Dollar - USD. - Price does NOT include surcharges for Bank Fee and other surcharges if any.
  • How to make a cancellation? And will I be charged when cancelling my booking?

    If you want to cancel a booking, please send a cancellation request by email or sending a fax to us. We do not accept a cancellation by phone. Please read carefully the cancellation policy of each program in the Check Rates tab. We also note clearly about the timing of cancellation and how much will be charged for the cancellation. Notice: we ONLY accept cancellation in writing by email or fax, NOT by phone.
  • Can I have vegetarian food?

    Yes, of course, you just need to note your preferences on the Special Request part of the booking process on the website.
  • Some activities we can take part in within a Cruise program?

    Activities you can take part in during within a Cruise program is: Movie Night, Board Games, visiting Floating village, go fishing, cooking class, kayaking or swimming, biking, climbing… It depends on each cruise and the length of Cruise program as 02 days or 03 days. Please see more details in cruise itineraries.
  • Is there any special package for honeymoon, wedding anniversary or birthday vacation on cruise?

    Halong Bay is a very suitable place for honeymoon, wedding anniversary or birthday vacation. Depend on your budget, you can join a sharing cruise or take a private cruise. But all our cruise partners have activities to celebrate for your special occasions such as decorating your bed with rose petals in a heart shape, giving chocolate or birthday cake...
  • Is there any change on Cruise itinerary on your Website?

    Cruise itinerary and schedule are subject to change upon weather and operations conditions.
  • Some outstanding features we will visit on Halong Bay?

    There are wonderful occasional visits to Sung Sot cave, Man's head island, Trong cave and some beautiful islands such as: Ga Choi Island, Dog Island, Tortoise Island, Con Rong island, Teapot island, Chopsticks island and visiting floating villages in Halong Bay.
  • Are Cruises equipped with protection devices for guests on board?

    Yes, all our cruise partners equipped their junks with fire extinguishers, life jackets and other tools as support and protection devices for guests in emergency.
  • How about drinks on a Cruise?

    Guests can order drinks from the cruise’s menu. Besides the mineral water, tea and coffee included in your program, other drinks are on your own expenses. On our website, included and excluded drinks are noted clearly with each cruise package.
  • What do we need to bring to Halong Bay?

    Whenever traveling, it's highly advised to carry insect repellent, hand sanitizer, aspirin/paracetamol, medicines for stomach troubles, etc. And don't forget to bring your Original passport, swimming suites, sun glasses, cash or credit card, etc.
  • Do I need to provide you my personal information such as passport number, date of birth... when joining in a Halong Bay cruise?

    Yes, you have to provide us passport number, birth date, nationality, visa expiration date... before checking the cruise. Children whose traveling documents are attached to parent's passport must travel with the parent.
  • How long does it take from Hanoi to Halong Bay or Halong to Hanoi Airport directly?

    The distance from Halong to Hanoi airport is around 180 km.

    Shuttle Bus takes you around 3.5 hours, included haft-hour for break time from Hanoi to Halong Bay. If you go by private car, it takes around 3 hours.

    Halong to Hanoi Airport   If you go by private car, it takes about 3.5 hours from Halong to Hanoi airport directly. The cheaper option is taking a Shuttle Bus from Halong to Bac Ninh (on the way back to Hanoi from Halong), then taking a taxi to the airport (about 20 USD). It will take about 4 hours.

  • Does Shuttle Bus pick up/drop off us at Hanoi Airport or Train Station?

    Shuttle Bus only pick you up/drop you off at Hotel in Hanoi Old Quarter, not Hanoi Airport or Train Station.

    Some Shuttle Buses only pick you up at their office, such as: Halong Emeraude Cruise, Halong Victory Star Cruise... If you need a transfer from/to Hanoi Airport or Train Station, you can take a taxi to join the Shuttle Bus or request a private car.

  • What time does Shuttle Bus pick up/drop off guests in Hanoi?

    That depend on each cruise, the time may be different. Normally, the Shuttle Bus will pick you up at your hotel in Hanoi Old Quarter around 8:00 am to 8:30 am and drop you off around 16:00 pm to 16:30 pm in Hanoi.
